Low tide on Kachemak Bay

wounded explorer
This is how far we could walk out on the sand.
The morning after we went on the Nature walk in Homer, we decided to go out at low tide to see if we could find any tide pools. The tide was at -1.5 feet(below sea level). We had to go down a very steep path and then climb over loose rocks. I had on my rubber boots, but Austin and Leann had tennis shoes and Jordan flip flops. We walked way out and then down the beach. We saw several bald eagles, small crabs, and some very small things like phytoplankton in small tide pools. We are not sure what these things were. they looked like those Sea Monkeys you can buy. The water was icy cold. Jordan's feet were red. Then to add injury to insult, he fell and scraped his leg and foot. The low tide was at 9:30 and then the high which was up 26 feet at 3:30. The tides here and in Anchorage are amazing.
