While in Nome and then today in Denali, we got to see the Tundra. In Nome we walked out on it to see the Muskox. It is springy and has many small wild flowers on it. Tundra means a ground that has only so much dirt that is thawed. Maybe only 2 feet or so. Under this is permafrost which means the land never completely thaws. The muskox eat lichen, that grows here.
