Rafting the Nenana in Denali
Bob, Leann, Austin, Jordan, and I went on a rafting trip down the Nenana River. Nenana means no river river, which means no life in this river. It is so full of glacier silt that it is gray and has no fish, algae, or anything living in it. We had to wear dry suits. They made us look like the Michelin tire man, but the water was 35 degrees, so we needed them. Jordan thought he might go for a swim until he got splashed with a wave. He then decided to stay in the boat. It was my first time to ride in an oar boat which means that we didn't paddle. The guide did all the work. He had rafted all over the states so we got to compare rivers we had rafted on. He actually has a brother guiding on the Deschutes in Oregon. That is my favorite river so far.
