Talkeetna, Ak.

On our way to Mt. McKinley better known as Denali, we stopped by Talkeetna. It is a small town between Anchorage and Denali. Climbers have to register here before they attempt to climb Denali. It is a quaint, tourist town. The train stops here. We did a little shopping, but more importantly, we ate at the Roadhouse Cafe. We all got something different and they were all delicious. Jordan's sourdough pancake was at least 14 inches. it was called the Black and blue(it had blackberries and blueberries in it). Austin had a reindeer pasty. It was like a pot pie but the crust went all around it like a turnover. The men that worked the mines had arsenic on there hands so their wives would have one side of the crust larger so they could hold onto that and then throw that part away. They even could put meat at one end and fruit for dessert at the other. Jordan and Austin have tried reindeer, elk, caribou, buffalo, halibut, and salmon.(so far no bear or moose)
