Portage Glacier

Outside of the visitor center, see the rain on the window.
The glacier is in the middle, across the lake.
Ice floating in the river.
We stopped at the Portage Glacier. Hoa wanted to ride the boat out to see it calve( when ice falls off into the water). It was so cold and rainy that she decided not to go. It is only about 5 miles off the main road to see the glacier. As we were driving up to it, we were following a small river. Hoa looks and asks is that ice floating in the river. I didn't think it would be since it was about 45 degrees outside, but it was. As we got closer to the glacier, the pieces were bigger. It was so "cool" looking! If not raining we would have gone on to Whittier. The only way is to go through the tunnel. It costs and you drive on a railroad track, with red lights/green telling you when to go. You take turns with east, west, and train traffic.
